As ovum donation has become more widely accepted as a treatment for infertility, more options have been created to help make donor eggs available and successful. For decades, RMA of New York has screened young potential donors for our ovum donation program. More recently, RMA has affiliated with Donor Egg Bank USA to allow ready access to previously retrieved and cryopreserved donor eggs. The result has been a shortening of our waiting list for both fresh and frozen eggs, and an enhancement of our ability to deliver high quality, FDA-approved donor eggs to our patients.
With access to our extensive egg donation network, we ensure that our ovum recipients have options. In fact, use of frozen eggs allows recipients to begin the reproductive process immediately and provides them with access to donors from a variety of racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
There are several reasons a recipient may require donated eggs, including advanced reproductive age, decreasing the risk of genetic abnormalities in their offspring, or complications caused by previous illnesses or surgeries. No matter the reason, the choice to use donated eggs results in high pregnancy success rates overall, and RMA of New York’s rates are commensurate with the most advanced IVF centers in the nation and throughout the world.
Using frozen donor eggs offers women an advantage because it gives them access to a selection of eggs that are available for immediate use. Frozen egg donation eliminates the lengthy waiting and matching process for fresh eggs by minimizing the time needed to synchronize the menstrual cycles between the egg donor and egg recipient. RMA of New York has a long history of hand-selecting the most appropriate donors to match recipients’ needs and requests as well as assisting women in selecting ovum donors based on a wide range of characteristics and personal preferences.
For women who want to achieve pregnancy immediately, using frozen donor eggs can be an efficient, economical, and often successful treatment option. The large selection of donors in the frozen egg network provides recipients the chance to choose characteristics that matter to them and to begin the journey to parenthood immediately.
For the past 20 years, RMA of New York has successfully facilitated the births of thousands of healthy babies for patients across the New York area.
