Ayudan a prevenir males congénitos
Detectar si uno de los padres es portador genético de alguna enfermedad puede ayudar a evitar que un bebé nazca con algún mal catastrófico, como la fibrosis quística.
Detecting if one of the parents is a genetic carrier of a disease can help prevent a baby from being born with a catastrophic illness, such as cystic fibrosis. While the genetic technology to achieve this is still mostly limited to the private sphere in Mexico, it can help decrease the incidence of certain diseases. “It is morally and ethically acceptable to be able to use medical techniques to prevent the transfer of these devastating diseases, which are not just for the family, but for the entire health system,” says Dr. Benjamin Sandler.
