Nourish to Flourish: Reducing Inflammation through Nutrition

In honor of National Endometriosis Awareness Month and National Nutrition Month, both of which fall in the month of March, Dr. Tia Jackson-Bey and Dara Godfrey, MS, RD hosted a webinar to discuss inflammatory conditions that can impact fertility and nutritional strategies improve overall quality of life.
As Dr. Jackson-Bey expresses, inflammation is a factor that underlies several conditions that can impact one’s fertility. Any dysregulation of natural hormones associated with reproduction and fertility, such as estrogen and progesterone, can contribute to a pro-inflammatory state. If this state is prolonged, or chronic, then this can impact one’s fertility significantly. Common conditions such as endometriosis, Polycystic Inflammatory Syndrome (PCOS), and even autoimmune conditions such as Crohn’s Disease follow this type of pathology. Dr. Jackson-Bey elaborates on each of these conditions, how they impact one’s fertility, and the treatments to seek to alleviate symptoms.
Dara advises complementing these medical treatments with a conscious approach to diet and lifestyle. Doing so may not only improve overall quality of life, but can give individuals living with these taxing conditions a chance to take ownership and gain control of their symptoms.
