Community Presentations: Raising Awareness about Fertility Options in Westchester

Fertility 101

This virtual fertility informational presentation was given by Rachel Gerber, MD, a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Fertility Specialist at RMA of New York — Westchester who sees patients in White Plains, Mount Kisco, and Poughkeepsie, NY. Her talk covered the basics of fertility and an overview of common infertility procedures and treatments, including fertility testing, IUI, IVF, egg and embryo freezing, egg donation, male fertility, and semen analysis.

Shattering the Myths and Taboos

This was the overarching theme of the Jewish Women’s Health Summit held in March in Scarsdale, NY for the Westchester community. Rachel Gerber, MD, of RMA of New York — Westchester joined Rabbi Dina Rosenberg of the Congregation Sons of Israel in thea presentation, “Fertility Preservation and Infertility.” The summit was held at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Mid-Westchester. The event, hosted by former ‘Today Show’ anchor and fitness expert Jenna Wolfe, aimed to celebrate bodily autonomy, dispel common health misconceptions, and create a nurturing environment for accessing vital information.

Reproductive Health and How it Relates to Cancer

Matthew Lederman, MD, from RMA of New York — Westchester, joined Ana Paisley from the American Cancer Society (ACS) in a presentation on the topic of cancer and reproductive health. The talk was part of an ACS educational series, “Specialty Treatments in Cancer Care.” Dr. Lederman, who sees patients at our White Plains, Poughkeepsie, and Mount Kisco, New York fertility clinics, has a special clinical interest in oncofertility. In addition, he and his team provide a full range of infertility care at our Mount Kisco (Westchester County) fertility center and IVF lab, including egg donation, fertility preservation, and secondary infertility consultations and treatment.
