Dr. Alan Copperman was recognized on April 30th as the 2013 Alumni Initiate of the New York Iota Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society. In a well-attended ceremony in Valhalla, New York, Dr. Copperman received his award from William H. Frishman, MD, Councilor of the New York Iota Chapter of AOA.
The leadership of New York Medical College recognized Dr. Copperman’s contributions to the field of medicine since being graduated in 1989. They cited his national and international reputation as an educator and clinician, his authorship of several hundred scientific abstracts and peer-reviewed publications and his receipt of awards recognizing his contribution to reproductive medicine from Patient Advocacy Organizations, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Yale University, and The Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Copperman shared his appreciation for his teachers and role models. He discussed what a privilege it is to be given the opportunity to use science and compassion to help couples trying to build their families, and encouraged the graduating medical students to deliver attentive care to the patients in front of them while thinking broadly about the opportunities to use their medical knowledge to better the health of the community.
